Cloud Cost Optimization
GCPAzureKubernetesCost
Cloud bills rarely have one root cause. They're usually a slow accumulation of over-provisioned nodes, orphaned volumes, idle environments and defaults nobody revisited after the first deploy.
The challenge
The main challenge was visibility. Cost data existed, but it wasn't connected to the teams or workloads that generated it, which made it hard for anyone to feel ownership over their own usage.
Approach
- Broke down cloud spend by workload and team instead of leaving it as a single opaque line item.
- Identified over-provisioned Kubernetes resources and idle infrastructure that had outlived its purpose.
- Turned findings into concrete, low-risk changes — right-sizing, cleanup, and better defaults for new resources.
- Made cost visibility an ongoing part of the platform rather than a one-time audit.
